God doesn’t Change – Still Loves US, all of us.

But if you go back and read about the churches in Corinth and Ephesus, they have more in common with us than we think…maybe we aren’t changing as much as we think we are?

One of my favorite times with groups of people that meet regularly, like a Men’s group or band practice is the times of prayer, when we let down the veil of our lives and ask for prayers from our friends and our God.  And in that group setting, week after week you begin to hear the stories of answered prayers and they are beautiful, life-giving stories.

Well today God answered my prayer, I’ve been praying it for a while, a few years…about 4! Today I entered into a mentoring relationship with a man whom I highly respect. And the best part about it was that it wasn’t just the two of us in that room, But God was there and you could feel His presence on your soul, beautiful. So thank you God for answering my prayers and encouraging me to pray without ceasing.

AMEN

Sorry for the lag, for all the 2-3 people that still read this:

topic: thoughts in my head

How much does marketing control my thoughts/actions?

If marketing is so powerful, is there a way to harness it for good? I.E. If a good marketing campaign sells a million cans of coke more than pepsi, can we turn it, at least the principle, to a good use for humanity?

How do I harness twitter and facebook for building community?

How does one build community?

Anyone know any good blues/jazz piano teachers in the triangle?

My grandmother said I never shut up, I wonder at what age I just kept all the questions and thoughts in my head to myself? And is that a good thing? Be careful what you say to children, they really are listening…more cohesion next time…I’ll try…

check out twitter, its pretty cool search for lorenmiller

30, thirty, 1/3 of a lifetime, 11,000 days, some better than others. I’m starting to feel old, yet excited, 30 will be good! I would love to loose 30 lbs by the time 30 is over, I know I can loose 3 at least? 30 new friends? re-connect with 30 old friends!

The perfect birthday meal!

Got a cheap flight to NYC to see my cousin swim. I actually was able to see 2 cousins in one trip, walk all round Manhattan, do some window shopping, read, write, hit up a museum and most importantly eat.

My cousin Samantha swims for NYU, I had never been to a swim meet before, and I had never seen her swim in person so I was excited. It was a good thing I brought a newspaper, she swam for about 10 minutes and the other 2 hours I read and watched some swimming. Note to self, don’t sit in the first row, it gets a little wet. Sam was just getting over a serious infection so she didn’t have her best day in the water, but up on the wall she held 2 school records, I was really proud of her.

One of the funnier things I saw while in NYC was a mariachi band in the subway, the doors opened, a band walked in, I first thought they might be going to/from a gig, but they started busking right in front of me. I lent my voice to some la bamba harmonies, and practiced my Spanish. Quite interesting.

One of my favorite things I did was to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Met. A truly world class collection from ancient to modern, very inspiring. They had a roof top exhibit by Jeff Koons who turns ordinary into extraordinary (there is a message in there). From the roof you get the best view in the whole city over looking the park. I sat in the sun for an hour and wrote some good stuff that will hopefully make its way into a song or two.

It was a great trip, I love my cousins, I am so proud of them, thanks Spencer and Samantha for a great weekend!

Amen. It has been great. Can’t wait for year two.

I’m writing this post on my iphone inside an airplane at 35,000 ft. The world continues to evolve at an alarming pace. But that is a whole ‘nuther post… I digress.

The weekend started with me trying to jam 5 days of work into 2.5… I was unsuccessful… And then off to the airport to fly standby. A ticket home now goes for $500 or I can fly standby for $150 but nothing is guaranteed. That fits my lifestyle and mindset well and I’m happy to report that I made it home and back as planned. I picked up my good buddy tim at the airport and we headed downtown to hang out. Now I am a bit biased but I have the best friends in the world, sorry supermodels but if I were stranded on a desert island you would not be called.

Jim, tim and I at an old hang out sportys… Free tacos on tues, dollar burgers on mon, helped me to gain the life long memories from college ( I am now trying to part with said memories ).

Friday we had the rehearsal and dinner it was a true Minnesotan dinner complete with jello salad and a unique dessert. It was also weird seeing my buddy jim preparing to get married. He is the ultimate man’s man. he was hunting and fishing in the womb. I never really new Jim with a girlfriend, now he is getting married. I am very proud of him.

The rest of the weekend was just one big reunion. I wish I could of stayed there longer but I will be back up in MN for thanksgiving! Hopefully there will be more pictures on my facebook page, so if you aren’t my friend on facebook, look me up!

Tuesday night eating outside with my pup bella. Excited for the future. Enjoying the present!

I know it is kinda Utopian but take a look at this youtube clip and then read the article here:

What do you think?

You probably already know, but just incase you haven’t heard the news; I am getting married in early September! I’ve been a bachelor for 28 glorious years, I know how to be a single man, I’ve committed the pizza store’s phone number to memory, I am well versed in the art of microwave cooking, the only person I need to take care of is me and marginally at that. Yes, that chuckle boiling up inside of you is well deserved, my life is about to change.  I am slowly realizing that my life is not about me anymore, there is someone else.  If you open up your bible you can see this analogy of the bride and bridegroom smattered throughout its pages. However, it’s often left there in black and white and not translated into real life. When we accept Christ into our lives, life as we know it ends. We are now called Christians; we can’t live life for ourselves anymore. I get tons of “advice” from people about my upcoming life change; one of them was to ask my wife everyday “How can I serve you?”  It seems like good advice to me both in my future marriage and in my relationship with God. I plan to take it.
