It has been a while since I’ve posted…sorry. Last week was pretty busy, spent reading and writing for a sermon, click here to listen, that I shared last Sunday. At first I was a little bummed because I was preaching on the wise men, yeah, follow a star and give some gifts, was the general gist I had for the past 29 years, but I went back and read around the passage, like I was taught back in college and found that the wise men were really good opposites of the people of Israel found in the book of Malachi. I really enjoyed making the connections and preaching that sermon.

Shay and I just finished filming another short…inspired by the bible and corona commercials…enjoy…and come to the 5:30pm service this Sunday to hear the sermon that goes with it!

9pm Dec 24th @ Christ Church – A blue(grass) Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone! Peace on earth and goodwill to all.

People often ask me what a normal day looks like, well here is a little peek into what I do … make magic

Do not attempt this at home, semi-professional actors in a closed staircase

What a fall. If you wait for life to slow down you will spend your while life waiting. So what do you do? I’ll get back to you when I figure it out.

We just finished a sermon series at church entitled abundant life. It was filled with a lot of firsts for me. I was able to preach here is a link, help design and lead a series and start to form a vision with other co workers. I really enjoyed preaching through the gospel of john. It is a simple message of god made us, god loves us, god forgave us no matter what, we need to love god, you need to love you, you need to love others which in turn is loving god.

I’ll call it a feedback loop. You are in some kind of loop whether you realize it or not, addiction, grief, materialism, selfishness are just a few at the top of my mind. But when we live in Gods plan everything else seems so petty and fleeting. Now the trick is letting go of our way if life and living in Gods. It’s hard, we don’t let go of what we know easily. Think of the girl who goes back to that jerk of a boyfriend or that fast-food you have in your hand. When you step away from the situation it is easier to make good choices. But in the heat of life we run back inside of the house that is on fire.

We are on our way to Mn for thanksgiving and my cousin nicks wedding. I will be able to spend some much needed quality time with my wife and see my niece Natalie. Have a great thanksgiving. Get out of that negative feedback loop and live in the kingdom of god, a life lived for others. Then and only then do we have a chance for real change in ‘08.

Blogged from my iPhone some where over Ohio

Got a cheap flight to NYC to see my cousin swim. I actually was able to see 2 cousins in one trip, walk all round Manhattan, do some window shopping, read, write, hit up a museum and most importantly eat.

My cousin Samantha swims for NYU, I had never been to a swim meet before, and I had never seen her swim in person so I was excited. It was a good thing I brought a newspaper, she swam for about 10 minutes and the other 2 hours I read and watched some swimming. Note to self, don’t sit in the first row, it gets a little wet. Sam was just getting over a serious infection so she didn’t have her best day in the water, but up on the wall she held 2 school records, I was really proud of her.

One of the funnier things I saw while in NYC was a mariachi band in the subway, the doors opened, a band walked in, I first thought they might be going to/from a gig, but they started busking right in front of me. I lent my voice to some la bamba harmonies, and practiced my Spanish. Quite interesting.

One of my favorite things I did was to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Met. A truly world class collection from ancient to modern, very inspiring. They had a roof top exhibit by Jeff Koons who turns ordinary into extraordinary (there is a message in there). From the roof you get the best view in the whole city over looking the park. I sat in the sun for an hour and wrote some good stuff that will hopefully make its way into a song or two.

It was a great trip, I love my cousins, I am so proud of them, thanks Spencer and Samantha for a great weekend!

Amen. It has been great. Can’t wait for year two.

I’m writing this post on my iphone inside an airplane at 35,000 ft. The world continues to evolve at an alarming pace. But that is a whole ‘nuther post… I digress.

The weekend started with me trying to jam 5 days of work into 2.5… I was unsuccessful… And then off to the airport to fly standby. A ticket home now goes for $500 or I can fly standby for $150 but nothing is guaranteed. That fits my lifestyle and mindset well and I’m happy to report that I made it home and back as planned. I picked up my good buddy tim at the airport and we headed downtown to hang out. Now I am a bit biased but I have the best friends in the world, sorry supermodels but if I were stranded on a desert island you would not be called.

Jim, tim and I at an old hang out sportys… Free tacos on tues, dollar burgers on mon, helped me to gain the life long memories from college ( I am now trying to part with said memories ).

Friday we had the rehearsal and dinner it was a true Minnesotan dinner complete with jello salad and a unique dessert. It was also weird seeing my buddy jim preparing to get married. He is the ultimate man’s man. he was hunting and fishing in the womb. I never really new Jim with a girlfriend, now he is getting married. I am very proud of him.

The rest of the weekend was just one big reunion. I wish I could of stayed there longer but I will be back up in MN for thanksgiving! Hopefully there will be more pictures on my facebook page, so if you aren’t my friend on facebook, look me up!

Tuesday night eating outside with my pup bella. Excited for the future. Enjoying the present!

This is coming to you live from my iPhone that is assuming I have any readers left. It’s been a while, almost one year into marriage, I’ve learned a lot about myself and life in the past few months and I’ve got, excuse me, I have a lot more to learn.

I ran across an artist today, that I know I’ve heard of before, but didn’t pay much attention to. His songs are simple yet complex, i feel like i am looking into his heart when he sings. This stuff probably won’t make it onto your local radio station, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t listen to it:   Leonard Cohen If it be Your will…………..here is another version sung with equal heart: ……….Another of Leonard’s song “hallelujah” sung by Jeff Buckley
